Temporary Career Coach — $24.42/hr. — Through December 2025

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
- Conducts intake, and determines eligibility for all program participants. Notifies participants of eligibility outcomes, program expectations, processes, and procedures.
- Meets individually with participant to determine proficient skill level, industry experience, education, financial literacy, and training needs.
- Administers, evaluates and guides participants through career and financial assessments. Creates an Individualized Employment Plan (IEP) that includes the development of actionable career and financial goals.
- Assists with recruitment, scheduling, and instruction of one-on-one and group workshop attendance.
- Assists with referrals and enrollment into all external programs including partnering education/training institutions and community centers, to enhance job readiness, reduce life barriers, achieve financial stability, and increase income.
- Interface with employers and develop employer relationships/partnerships to offer direct employment opportunities to participants. Gathers feedback from employers to aid in the recruitment process and skill development.
- Maintains relationships with staffing agencies to aid in matching participants with labor force needs.
- Inputs and maintains participant information including intake demographics, goals and outcomes, attendance, assessments, follow-up, progress notes, employment, key financial outcomes, and referrals.
- Coordinates supports that will assist the participants with attendance, program participation, activities, job fairs, and employment referrals to partnering employers and agencies as deemed appropriate.
- Assists participants in applying for professional development and financial literacy through educational programs such as certifications, higher education, GED, entrepreneurship workshops, financial literacy workshops, and skill development.
- Assists in instructing basic computer literacy, such as basic Microsoft Word, uploading/downloading documents, online applications, resume writing, interview techniques, and job search.
- Documents participant(s) follow-up for 30/60/90/120/365 days or longer depending on participant engagement.
- Provides Career Coach intervention services by reviewing and resolving disciplinary problems of participants and employers, investigates complaints, and makes necessary corrections in consultation with the Director of Employment and Career Services.
- Provide VITA/TCE Tax Services to eligible clients.
- Provide ongoing training around financial support, education support, income support, digital literacy, work readiness training, and interviewing when permissible.
- Assist participants in receiving work ancillary and educational supplies when needed.
- Attend community outreach and networking events.
- Other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong experience working in a mentoring, advising, or counseling role (little or no supervision).
- Must have strong research skills and experience engaging employers and community partners.
- Must have the ability to track data and develop reports.
- Must be comfortable with public speaking and communicate ideas, advice, feedback, and critiques professionally and concisely in individual and group settings.
- Must be a critical thinker and problem solver.
- Must be a people person willing to offer services within the community.
- Must understand the needs of low to moderate-income populations.
- Must be organized and have good recordkeeping skills.
- Must be flexible and willing to work in the community and abroad.
- Must be proficient in computers, the internet, and data entry. Excellent knowledge of standard computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and social media platforms.
EDUCATION:
Candidates must have obtained an Associate’s degree in Education, Social Services, Counseling, or Marketing preferred. Three (3) years coaching experience and two (2) years’ experience working with the low-income population. Two (2) years’ experience in case management, human services, customer service, or education.
