The Bridges to Career Opportunities model assists with identifying basic skills gaps that often prevent unemployed or underemployed client’s working with our Financial Opportunity Center® (FOC) coaches access training and credentialing programs that can lead to living wage jobs.

The goal of the program is to match employers in need of workers with a specific skill set to job seekers who've been trained in these skills.

How We Do It
The Bridges program is integrated into the FOC coaching services, allowing resident’s access the following services:

• Vocational training with a trusted community partner or local community college
• Job-hunting skills that include resume-writing, interviewing and dressing professionally
• “Soft skills” for the workplace like communication, conflict resolution and time management
• Understanding of the field, such as pay and hours, work expectations
• Ongoing support from FOC employment and financial coaches to set and achieve personal goals

By blending technical training with financial coaching, clients take the reins of their economic and professional lives. This training is funded by LISC through the Bridges Program, helping make this valuable skills-development opportunity available at no cost to participants.
