Overview
Pathway, Inc.—the designated Community Action Agency for Lucas County, Ohio—is seeking proposals from qualified freelance Communications Specialists to provide media and public relations support.
The selected consultant will collaborate closely with Pathway’s leadership team to strengthen the agency’s visibility, enhance community engagement, and ensure consistent, mission-driven messaging across all communication channels.
Scope of Work
Services may include, but are not limited to:
- Drafting and distributing press releases and media advisories
- Coordinating media outreach and pitching stories to local and regional outlets
- Managing public relations and promotions for agency events and initiatives
- Developing and implementing social media and digital engagement strategies
- Providing crisis communications planning and response support
- Refining brand messaging and positioning for target audiences
- Copywriting and content creation for newsletters, website, and marketing materials
- Developing and producing Pathway’s Annual Report, including story development, design coordination, and alignment with agency goals
Qualifications
- Proven experience in public relations, communications, or marketing (nonprofit experience preferred)
- Strong media relationships and understanding of the local/regional media landscape
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Experience creating strategic communications plans and high-quality print/digital publications
