ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
The Employment Specialist is responsible for assisting the Case Manager and connecting clients to employment opportunities and academic opportunities to grow their self-sufficiency skills.
In addition, this position requires maintaining a professional relationship with clients, staff, and administration by overseeing the process of intake.
- Responsible for recruitment of participants and entering them into the ETO system.
- Attends weekly meetings.
- Provides linkages and referrals to community resources.
- Completes case notes when helping with employment.
- Follows up to ensure program completion by participant(s).
- Supports recruiting efforts by reviewing yearly, monthly, and weekly goals to accomplish the requirement of the project to work with youth ages 18-24 and fathers 25 and older.
- Builds outreach efforts and plans by researching and contacting community services, hospitals, and clinics, and working with CHW through Healthy Start or Pathways HUB and other organizations in the community around the 10 worst neighborhoods in Toledo, Ohio especially those in 43608 where infant mortality is high.
- Assists with making presentations and maintaining rapport with community partners along with the Program Assistant to secure referrals from the organizations.
- Provides specific instructions to assigned Case Managers, Office Aides, and Community Health Worker Coach.

- Must have the desire and ability to work with a diverse group of people, particularly those living in low-income distressed neighborhoods.
- Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with a high level of competence.
- Must have previous work experience in a fast-paced environment, which is highly desirable.
- Must have excellent organizational skills.
- Must possess computer skills, including the use of MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays.
EDUCATION:
High school diploma/GED required. At least one (1) year of college or equivalent is preferred. Prior non-profit, community action agency, human service, outreach, sales, and/or customer service experience.
